Become a Junior Explorer

Adventure is just around the corner!

Our Junior Explorers Program is a fun, family-friendly activity for kids ages 10 and under to discover Harrisburg while building a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors. Participants tackle challenges at their own pace and, once completed, become deputized Greenway Ambassadors!

How it works

Take a picture of a pedestrian bridge (Hint: visit the Back Creek Greenway).
Take a picture of a water feature eg. a fountain (Hint: visit the Fuda Creek Greenway at Churchill Farms).
Take a picture of a maple tree.
Take a picture of a piece of litter you've picked up.
Draw a bird or insect you spotted on the greenway, then take a picture of your drawing.

When you've completed all five challenges fill out the form to submit your entry.

Every Junior Explorer who completes the activities receives:

Program rules

→ Open to children 10 years old and younger. No cost to participate.
→ A parent or guardian should accompany children while exploring the greenways.
→ Stay on designated trails and follow all posted rules.
→ Pick up only litter that can be safely handled. If something appears dangerous, leave it and notify an adult.
→ Respect wildlife and plants—observe them, but leave them undisturbed.
→ One prize package is awarded per child upon successful completion of all challenges.
→ Program terms, conditions, and rewards subject to change without notice.
